July 2nd-
Man what a day!
Morning-Woke up and went to breakfast. Good food but not enough for my liking. Then we went to church (at parrot tree place for ex-patriots). A great message from Larry about admitting when God lets you know you are in the wrong and how in hard times we must turn to God. The boat ride to Helene defied expectations. Our driver doule who also owns the islands only monkey, which was running around Helene later, enjoyed going fast. This meant every time we went over a wave we were jolted. One time he went to fast we hit the wave, I heard the swoosh of the water and then a loud crack. The three girls in front of me were now sitting on the floor of the boat. They had broken the seat. The scenery on the way to Helene amazed me such lush forests and rich greens. As we approached the island i could see the houses along the shoreline. More like shacks. The weather suddenly felt 10 degrees hotter. I started to sweat and have not stopped yet. Everyone is very friendly . The view from the prayer deck blows my mind.
Evening-
after dinner we went to church. So amazing to here the pastor talk. People living in such poverty yet still praising the lord. It was so awesome. I think i’m going to like it here. You can clearly see God at work. And many people who love him.
Sweating alot,
Paul
