Yesterday was a hard but good day. Andrew and I were told that we needed to build a frame for a cement pad to hold the trashcan shelter. Larry is working real hard on cutting down on the amount of insects that live near the kitchen. He has replaced over half the counter space with stainless steel(look for that post of me helping to tear out a counter).
So we are moving the trashcans always from the building. Neither Andrew nor I had ever built a concrete frame before so putting it together served as a large learning experience. We had no problem with measuring and cutting the wood. We ran into problems with squaring and leveling the frame. What made it tricky was that two sides had to be shorter due to us having to match this new pad with a preexisting one. Finally after much struggle we got it squared and level. Because we were directly in the sun with no shade it made the job very sweaty.
After we finished the framing, it was time for some Fourth of July work. Making homemade ice-cream. The reward was well worth the effort. Hand-cranked ice-cream tastes so good. Our Fourth of July dinner meal was nothing short of spectacular. We enjoyed Steak, Potatoes, Pasta Salad and rolls. For desert we had homemade ice cream with cake. What a meal.
Kenree did show up to tutoring, 20 minutes late. We had a good session. When I walked up to dinner Larry and Joe were praying with a woman, turns out it was Kenree’s mom. At dinner Larry explained that she had heard that Kenree had stolen 50 dollars from the clinic. She took most of it away from him, but he had already spent some. She made up the difference. He had gotten in thru an unlocked door and taken 50 dollars from Larry’s wallet, in his office. Kenree will now being doing some manual labor for the clinic for a couple of weeks. We hope that God will use this as an opportunity to improve his behavior.
God Bless,
Paul
