I have always loved the ocean. I think it started because my family normally made it to the ocean at least once a year since I can remember. Something about the power of the waves always impresses me. Right when I think I am in control a wave reminds me of the tremendous power it possesses by slamming me down.
Today I got the opportunity to go snorkeling with the group that has been here this past week. Because of our boat problems we did not go to Pigeon cays and instead just went right out on the reef. We still took the boat. It was fun to fall off backward into the water. I love how the reef looks like a mini city but with fish. God made so many cool fish. All different colors. Some big, some small. The ones whose colors almost blends in with the coral always amaze me too. Then there is the coral. Some of the shapes that the coral makes blows my mind. The soft coral that sways in the current is so cool.
I enjoyed just swimming along and soaking up God’s beautiful work. How he ever thought up all this stuff I cannot even begin fathom. Then as I was doing shutdown tonight. I looked up at the awe inspiring night sky.(I will admit, Houseboat at Shasta is better for star gazing)
Please pray for me this last week to keep my head here and to have the energy to finish strong. I still need to wake up at 4:30 one morning and watch the sunrise.
Praise that Julie Reid made it home safe. It was cool to hear how the community around her pulled together to make such a hard time almost bearable. I wish we would take care of each other more on a daily basis. Praise God for her travel and healing.
Loving God’s Glorious Creation,
Paul
hey paul,

Paul, I am very proud of your efforts in Helene. I hope for the next week you can “stay in the moment” as you serve. There will be enough time on the flight back to reflect and think about returning to your normal activities.
We Americans tend to dwell on the past or try to preplan our futures. One of the qualities I like about Helene is that it slows down your body, mind, and spirit. As one author has written, God is always in the moment if we slow down our spirits to see His handiwork. Enjoy these days. They are a gift. Your life will get crazy fast, soon enough.
Please give my greetings to Bye-Bye, Teddie, Willis, Dean and Bobby. Tell Ewings that his walk with God touches more lives off island than on island. Give a big hello to Marvelous for me.
Hope you can drop bye before you take off this fall.
Stay in the moment,
Scott
Paul,
Your snorkeling trip sounded fantastic! God did an amazing job creating the oceans and all that live in them!!
Enjoy your last week in Helene! Continue to glorify God with your service to all who need it.
We love you,
Mom
WOW! LOL. Now that I’m home just thought I’d check out your site. Pretty neat. It’s cool you posted about our snorkeling trip. I have to tell you, I’m having a hard time getting back into the swing of things after being there…really miss it. Take care and God Bless.
