Heart of Worship
I think God has been putting something on my heart lately. I feel that not only does he want me to share it, but that I need to live it. The song that best reflects my feelings right now is “The Heart of Worship.”
“I’ll bring you more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what you have required
You search much deeper within
Through the ways things appear
You’re looking into my heart”
For too long, my idea of worship was simply singing. I put worship in a time slot. From time to time the voice from stage would say “Now worship is not just singing.” Then the next song would start and I would think, psh, well this is the best worship I know. Now don’t get me wrong, worship music and praise to God is awesome. However it is not enough and is far from what God intended for our worship to Him.
Before I came to Helene last year I had been involved in serving in the middle school ministry for almost a year and had experienced the pure joy of serving. When I arrived in Helene, words finally were put to what my heart had been telling me for so long. Serving is worship; infact worship and serving are words that really can be used interchangeably. When we are living our lives for God we are worshiping, when we serve Him and serve others because of His love for us we are worshiping.
I feel when I am in Helene that I am worshiping, that I am constantly serving God. Now while nothing with that is wrong, I don’t think that feeling should just exist on the foreign missions field. My daily life should be a mission for Christ. I desire to always be worshiping God. And I think I know that I need to makes choices in my daily life to worship God more. Praying for those who need it, taking the time to talk to more people. Giving of my self more, in the hope that people will see Christ’s love.
And it is not about us at all. It is not about what I do. It is all about what Christ has already done. Dying for all our sins in the ultimate act of love. He made us to worship.
“I’m coming back to the heart of worship
And its all about You
All about You, Jesus
I’m sorry Lord for the thing I’ve made it
When its all about You
Its all about You”
Longing to worship God constantly,
Paul
hey paul,
i like that song too and the song “mighty to save”. Good job trying to make worship not just singing but serving and doing that when u get home. I will try to do that too.
